****WANTED: REVIEWERS OF COMIC BOOK SERIES****

In 2007, the journal MELUS will be publishing a special issue on
multi-ethnic American graphic narrative (comics/comix/graphic novels).
Along with the critical essays and the regular book reviews, I would like to
include reviews of current and ongoing comic book series that address
ethnoracial issues in the U.S., either directly or indirectly. Pertinent
series could include a variety of topics and genres, from traditional
superhero narratives to alternative comics of any kind. Series may refer
explicitly to American ethnic concerns-like those found in the Hernandez
brother's LOVE AND ROCKETS-or explore issues such as ethnoracial identity,
marginalization, and border crossing in more subtle ways, such as that found
in Bill Willingham's FABLES or Mike Mignola's HELLBOY.

Please contact me as soon as possible if you have a review recommendation.
I am open to any suggestions for possible review titles, but potential
reviewers should keep in mind the subject of the special issue: the
multi-ethnic scope of American graphic narrative.

Reviews of current comic book series should be no more than 1,000 words.
The deadline for review manuscripts is October 1, 2006.
