Call for Papers

Plenary speakers:
   Piero Boitani (Università La Sapienza, Rome)
   Rachel Bowlby (University College London)
   John Dixon Hunt (University of Pennsylvania)
   Alberto Manguel (Paris, Toronto)
   Susan Stewart (Princeton University)

Paper proposals of a comparative / interdisciplinary nature are invited,
covering any genre or historical period. The following list is intended to
suggest a possible range of subject areas:

madness, dunces, Erasmus, architectural and garden follies, rage,
Quixotism, romantic love, fools and sages, lunacy, free association, ship
of fools, error, holy fools, scientific folly, naivety/silliness, play,
fools and jesters, carnival, delirium, poetic frenzy

Please send paper proposals (title + 200 word abstract) by 15 December 2006
