CFP: UC Davis Medieval Research Consortium (9/15/06; Kalamazoo, 5/10/07-5/13/07)
The Medieval Research Consortium at UC Davis is pleased to announce two
sessions for the 42nd International Congress on Medieval Studies at Western
Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, May 10-13, 2007.
1. "Excess and Outlandishness in Late Medieval Texts" will address how
texts challenge rhetorical norms of decorum and moderation, and exceed
their boundaries--especially the boundaries from which texts deliver their
messages to a late medieval audience.
2. "Hybridized Bodies and Spaces in Medieval Literature" will examine texts
that present overlapping and competing ideological claims--such as gender
and/or nation--on medieval bodies, cities, architecture and landscapes.
