CFP: Television Stardom (9/30/06; collection)
Call for Papers: Television Stardom Anthology
I am seeking a few additional essays to round out an insightful
anthology pertaining to the topic of television stardom. More
specifically, I am looking for theoretically informed contributions
that explore stardom as a complex, intriguing social phenomenon in
relation to television, during any decade(s) from the 1950s to the
present. Possible topics may include, but are certainly not limited
to, early television stardom, stardom and consumption,
reality-television 'stars,' stars in the news, and studies of
individual stars (past or present). Disciplines relevant to this
project include anthropology, communication, cultural studies, GLBT
studies, history, sociology, television studies, and women's studies.
Previously unpublished essay submissions must be typed (doubled spaced)
using 12-point Times font and one-inch margins on all sides. As a
general rule, essays following these format guidelines should fall
between 15 to 25 pages, although shorter or longer submissions will
certainly be considered. Any standard style of academic citation (APA,
MLA, Chicago, etc.) is acceptable for now, with the understanding that
authors will eventually have to conform their manuscripts to the
citation style preferred by the anthology's publisher. To enable blind
peer review, please include your name, complete contact information
(institutional affiliation, mail and e-mail addresses, daytime
telephone number), and essay title on a detachable cover sheet; with
the exception of your essay title, please do not repeat this
information on your first page of text.
The submission deadline is a bit tight, as this project is moving
forward quickly. In order to be considered, completed essays must be
received no later than September 30, 2006. Please mail or e-mail one
copy of your completed essay to: Kylo-Patrick Hart, Chair, Department
of Communication and Media Studies, Plymouth State University, 17 High
Street, MSC 60, Plymouth, NH 03264; krhart_at_plymouth.edu
For specific inquiries prior to submitting your essay, please contact
Kylo-Patrick Hart at (603) 535-3122.
