Call for Papers: Nature and Time in Literature and the
Visual Arts (9.30.2006; 5-7 December, 2006)

The Department of English, University of Delhi
announces an international seminar to be held in Delhi
from 5 to 7 December, 2006 on "Nature and Time in
Literature and the Visual Arts."
This interdisciplinary seminar will explore the
conceptualization and representation of nature and
time and their interrelationship in literature and the
visual arts. Papers may focus on broad areas like
Renaissance humanism or the Pre-Raphaelite movement
founded on an inter-animation of the two disciplines.
Alternatively, they may have a narrower focus: as for
example, aesthetic theory of a particular period or
genre or the literary and artistic work of two or more
figures from the same age. Since the seminar is
located in India, papers need not be restricted to the
western canon. They may address comparable issues in
Indian art and literature.

One-page abstracts should be mailed to the Convener,
Shormishtha Panja, at panjashormishtha_at_yahoo.com by
September 30, 2006.
