Medieval Congress in Kalamazoo, Michigan:

Domestic Space in Medieval Romance

Domestic space, in both literal and metaphorical terms, is an essential
of medieval romance. It defines both the literal landscape (the castle,
house, hut, or even cave) within which the action occurs, and the
of human relationships which gives that action meaning. The heroes and
heroines leave, are forced from, return to or create domestic spaces of
their own. Additionally, romances, whether as physical objects or in
performance, at once occupied and created domestic space, taking place
within the households or being passed between family members. This
invites papers that consider any aspect of domestic space in romance
definition, function, significance, and context) from divergent
and theoretical perspectives.
