UPDATE: College English Assocation of Ohio Fall Conference (9/27/06; 10/27/06)
Call for Papers:
College English Association of Ohio – Fall Conference
CEAO Fall Conference
When: Friday, October 27, 2006
Where: Bowling Green State University
Theme: (Re)Inventing English Studies
Keynote Speech provided by Dr. Dickie Selfe, Ohio State University
As scholars such as Judith Halberstam and Michael Berube suggest,
the "kind of work now done in English Departments far exceeds the old
boundaries of the field." Rather than look at this as the "Death of
English, as Halberstam suggests in her 2005 essay of the same title,
this year's CEAO fall conference encourages participants to reconsider
and redefine the role of the English in the 21st Century. Sample
proposal topics may include the location of writing programs; the
increasing need for diverse curricula to meet the needs of our equally
diverse student populations entering the university; the impact of
technology on the teaching of literature and composition, particularly
through online learning; and the possibilities of interdisciplinary
collaborations across the curriculum.
English department and program administrators are welcome to submit 250-
word proposals for individual presentations, panels and roundtable
discussions that deal with this theme or other issues that English
department and program administrators, including those in English
Education, face in the 21st Century.
Please submit proposals electronically to:
Dr. Scott Payne
CEAO Chair of Chairs Caucus
