AREA: Industrial/Corporate/Educational Film
 
Industrial/corporate/educational films, a category of non-fiction film, have
been a marginalized area of film study. Industrial/corporate/educational
films are viewed by thousands in schools, in corporations and in sales
meetings, yet the film companies, the filmmakers and the films themselves
receive little attention. This area seeks to explore the
industrial/corporate/educational film companies, the filmmakers and the
films.
 
How do industrial/corporate/educational films compare with documentary
films? How have changes in technology influenced the film style of
industrial/educational films? What are the aesthetics of
industrial/corporate/educational film?
 
How do industrial/educational films depict the social mores of society and
document the cultural and social milieu of an era? How have
industrial/corporate/ educational films impacted our society?
 
In addition to these issues, topics may include histories of industrial or
educational film companies. Submissions on all aspects of
industrial/corporate/educational film are welcome. Send a one-page
proposal, brief bio and AV needs by September 10, 2006.

The conference is scheduled for Fall of 2006 and will focus on
"The Documentary Tradition." We are looking for energetic people to
