es, authorship, and categorization of Native American literature. The latte=
r question of literary placement is particularly relevant. Erdrich is consi=
stently defined as a Native American or American Indian author, and yet con=
sistently in interviews she rejects that categorization claiming that it te=
nds to ghettoize American Indian authors. She prefers to be defined as Amer=
ican author.=0A =0APapers relating to issues relevant to fiction by Erdrich=
