Voyages
The Society's thirtieth annual conference will take place during Liverpool's year-long celebrations of its 800th birthday. Proposals for papers on the subject of voyages in early modern France are invited. While the conference theme recalls Liverpool's long-standing connection with the sea, it is nevertheless to be interpreted widely. Possible topics include: Hospitality, maps, discovery, orientalism, trade, cannibals and cannibalism, the Americas, ethnography, invasion, the post, horses and carriages, infection, pirates, zoos, strolling players, pilgrimage, slavery, musical movements, visual interculturalism.
