Computer Culture Area, 2007 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture
Association/American Culture Association Annual Meeting

We welcome paper and panel proposals on netporn and other Internet
topics associated with illicit pleasure, vice, and crime. Possible areas
of discussion and analysis include the rhetoric of pornographic Web
sites; online movie sites; the culture and problems of online gambling;
online and email schemes and scams; music theft and battles over
copyright law; Internet addictions; and interesting cultural, financial,
and technical aspects of issues related to worms, viruses, spam,
cookies, popups, and other dangers and annoyances that have been
released from the Pandora's box of the computer. The list is expandable.
The whole range of ethical approaches from moralistic to hedonistic will
be considered.

For Paper Proposals:

Please submit a brief abstract (no more than 200 words) embedded in the
body of an email by November 15. Include contact information (your
postal and preferred email address, phone and fax numbers, etc.) and a
biographical note about your connection to the topic.

For Panels:

Query first. Panel, roundtable, and other proposals should include all
of the information requested for individual paper proposals, as well as
a 100-word statement of the panel's rationale and any noteworthy
organizational features.

We welcome proposals from any and all scholars, critics, artists, and
thinkers, including graduate students and independent scholars.
