UPDATED SUBMISSION DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 3, 2006
We are considering proposals for sessions in
Technical Communication organized around a theme,
special panels, and/or individual papers. Sessions are
scheduled in 1½ hour slots, ideally with four papers
or speakers per standard session.
Should you or any of your colleagues be interested in
submitting a proposal or have any questions, please contact
the area chair (see below).
We are interested in any and all topics about or related to the
field, area, or pedagogy of technical communication in all
of its many aspects.
Some possible topics (but not limited to these):
-- Professional relationships formed and cultivated in the
technical communication environment
-- Past, current, or future trends in the area of technical communication
-- Differences between "technical writing" and "technical communication"
-- Team environments vs. the "lone writer"
-- Teaching technical communication: what works,
what doesn't, what is most important
-- Technical communication by non-technical graduates
-- Technical communication as an alternate career for academics
-- Persuasive discourses and marketing in technical communication
-- Experience with different authoring, graphical, conferencing,
or other technical communication tools
-- Experiences in technical communication within large/small organizations
-- Contracting vs. full employment in the technical communication field
