CALL FOR PAPERS

The LYRICA SOCIETY FOR WORD-MUSIC RELATIONS is pleased to announce its=20
inaugural
presentations at the annual convention of the American Comparative Literatur=
e
Association (www.acla.org). The conference will be held in Puebla, Mexico,
April 19-22, 2007, and will be devoted to the broad theme =E2=80=9CTrans, Pa=
n, Inter:
Cultures in Contact.=E2=80=9D Accordingly, papers on the literatures, music=20=
and
cultures of the Hispanic Americas, and on transatlantic and transpacific
perspectives are strongly encouraged.

The conference=E2=80=99s theme foregrounds what is basic to Comparative Lite=
rature,
Musicology and Ethnomusicology as disciplines: analysis of relations between
and among composers, authors, performance practices, works, languages,
traditions, cultures, nations, continents, and histories, and exploration of
the methods and mechanisms by which those relations create meaning. Topics=20
and
theories involving points of cultural contact and crossings remain critical=20=
to
the conference=E2=80=99s focus.

Proposals, no longer than 250 words in length, may be submitted in either
English or Spanish should be submitted electronically by November 15th to:
