Dr. David Lyle Jeffrey (Baylor University); Dr. Richard Kearney (Boston
College); Dr. Maxine Hancock (Regent College);
Dr. Jens Zimmermann (Trinity Western University); Prof. Lynn Szabo (Trinity
Western University)
Papers are invited on any aspects of the topics of suffering, the sacred,
and the sublime in literature from a Christian perspective.
Interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches to these topics are
encouraged.
Topics may include:
*The sacred spaces of suffering
*Mystical (un)knowing
*The literature of mourning
*Survivor testimonies
*Trauma and the sublime
*The feminine/masculine sublime
*Genre and the shape of suffering
*The evolution of the sublime in literature
*The unrepresentable voice of the victim
* The postmodern sublime
Reading time should not exceed twenty minutes. Presenters should be members
in good standing of the Conference on Christianity and Literature. You may
join the organization when you register for the conference.
Inquiries are welcomed at any time. Proposals or abstracts should be sent
to either of the conference co-chairs by December 15, 2006.
