The English Graduate Student Association at the University of North =
Carolina at Charlotte invites you to attend the 2007 Graduate Student =
Conference to be held Friday, January 19, 2007.=20

Organized around the concept of the mask, the seventh annual English =
Graduate Student Association conference at UNC Charlotte seeks abstracts =
for presentations that consider the implications of masked agency in =
literature, language, film, theatre and pedagogy. This theme is meant =
to be construed broadly: we welcome studies that explore the masks that =
construct what readers know of authors, narrators, and characters; how =
techniques of concealment operate within literature; how literature can =
be thought of as a mask for the many authorial, cultural and =
philosophical forces that can be discerned beneath its surface and how =
various sorts of masks operate in rhetoric and pedagogy. =20

Presentations will be 15 minutes in length, followed by a discussion =
period. Please identify any special audiovisual needs with your =
abstract.
