New Literatures and (Multi)Cultural Studies

The Association for Canadian and Qu=E9bec Literatures invites proposals =20=

for its 2007 conference exploring new literary forms and the politics =20=

of location. What new genres have arisen out of changing social and =20
literary contexts? How do authors=92 cultural identities inflect their =20=

writing? How has the emergence of new expressive forms altered our =20
definition of literature? What new readerships have emerged alongside =20=

new forms?

In keeping with Congress=92s 2007 theme of Bridging Communities, we =20
welcome papers exploring minority literature, such as First Nations =20
and M=E9tis writing. Papers from multiple perspectives and =20
disciplinary angles are encouraged. Possible topics include:
=B7 New forms (comic art, new media, multi-media projects)

=B7 Genre blending (fiction and non-fiction, theory and =20
literature, =93novels in verse=94)

=B7 Experimentations in genre

=B7 New theoretical methodologies and locations of scholarship =20
(queer studies, cultural studies)

=B7 Literature and social activism

=B7 Writing and decolonization

=B7 Life writing

=B7 Literature and ethnography

We also welcome member-organized sessions on topics related to any =20
aspect of the study of Canadian and Qu=E9bec literatures. All paper or =20=

session proposals can be written in French or English. Those who =20
propose papers or sessions must be members of ACQL before the Congress.

Please send paper proposals (no more than 500 words) with a short =20
biography and a 50-word abstract to the coordinator listed below by =20
15 January 2007.
