UPDATE: Practical Approaches for Teaching Culture in the Composition Classroom (12/15/06; collection)
(**Since the posting was just sent out November 6th, I would like to extend
the submission deadline to December 15, 2006)
Call for Submissions: Practical Approaches for Teaching Culture in the
Composition Classroom
Seeking 500-word abstracts for potential chapters in an essay collection
which offers diverse, practical, and innovative approaches for teaching
culture in the college composition classroom. The collection as a whole
will serve as a practical references for teachers who currently teach
elements of culture in their classroom and want to further develop those
approaches or for newer teachers who seek aid in the area of composition
instruction. While I have a particular interest in digital/hypertext
approaches, I am open to and excited about submissions that discuss
integration techniques for any type of culture, from traditional cultures
such as Native American to American subcultures or cyber cultures; moreover,
I embrace equally diverse approaches for teaching about these cultures,
ranging anywhere from pen and paper traditional approaches to ethnographic
or hypertext compositions. If accepted, abstracts will be formed into
chapters ranging from 5000 to 6000 words.
Please submit your 500-word abstract, name, current vita and affiliation to:
