Storytellers and friends of storytelling: Please post the following call for papers, or pass it on to someone who is interested.
This year, at The Eleventh Annual Cape Breton University Storytelling Symposium, we are planning to have more time for stories. The nature of the focus for this year's get together makes this a logical choice. We are looking forward to an enthusiastic response.
CALL FOR PAPERS
THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL
CAPE BRETON UNIVERSITY STORYTELLING SYMPOSIUM

Scheduled for the second weekend in June (June 8 and 9, 2007) in the city of Sydney on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, this symposium combines storytelling with papers about storytelling. This year's rallying cry is, "This is your country; bring us your stories."

This year's symposium will celebrate Canada's narrative heritage from all the countries of origin of its mainly immigrant population, as well as its legacy of the myths and tales that its indigenous peoples have conserved. THE STORIES THEY BRING is this year's theme. We are inviting offers to tell stories, and hope to have an additional session of storytelling to the Friday evening event. We are also seeking proposals for academic papers (or completed papers) on the uses of stories in a nationalist context. As always, papers on storytelling as an art, or as used in a variety of disciplines and texts, are welcome, as are papers dealing with the theory and criticism of the genre. The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2007. Proponents will be notified of the acceptance of their proposals by March 7, 2007.
Send a 250- word or one- page proposal (or a completed paper) for a 20-minute presentation (to an audience of academics and tellers), electronically or by mail, to:
