This call for papers is a proposed panel to be held at (dis)junctions, =
the=20
University of California, Riverside's 14th Annual Humanities Conference, =
April 7-8, 2006. In keeping with this year's theme, "Malapropriation =
Nation," this panel asks how we might consider the Gothic in forms other =
than the novel.

With the exception of a few recent studies such as Michael Gamer's =
Romanticism and the Gothic, Anne Williams's Art of Darkness, and Ellen =
Brinks's Gothic Masculinities, the Gothic is routinely theorized as a =
novelistic form (the gothic novel as synecdoche for the Gothic). How =
might we complicate such theorizations of the Gothic by citing gothic =
poems, gothic short stories, gothic films/media, or gothic dramas?

Papers from all periods and subgenres of gothic are welcome.
