The Rhetoric Symposium is now accepting proposals for papers and panels dea=
ling with contemporary issues of the five canons of rhetoric--invention, ar=
rangement, style, memory, delivery--which we define broadly to incorporate =
a wide variety of research interests.=20
We welcome submissions from all areas including but not limited to: Rhetori=
c and Composition, English, Journalism, Political Science, Education, Histo=
ry, Film Studies, Media Studies, Art, Psychology, and Sociology.=20
Suggestions of possible areas of interest: Critical Theory Pedagogy Rhetori=
c & Technology Composition & Rhetoric Creative Writing Science Fiction Writ=
ing Center Theory & Practice Basic Writing Academia/Professional Issues Rhe=

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Kathleen Blake Yancey of Florida State Univ=
ersity. Her research interests include Composition Theory and Writing Asses=
sment, especially Portfolio Assessment. Dr. Blake Yancey is the author of s=
everal significant works including her latest book Delivering College Compo=
sition: The Fifth Canon. She is a Professor and Director of the graduate pr=
ogram in Rhetoric and Composition at FSU. She also co-founded the journal A=
ssessing Writing and co-founded and co-directs the National Research Coalit=
ion on Electronic Portfolios.=20
