CFP: Literature in the Early American Republic (no deadline; journal)
CALL FOR PAPERS
LITERATURE IN THE EARLY AMERICAN REPUBLIC (LEAR), a peer-reviewed scholarly annual seeks articles for its inaugural volume.
Edited by Matthew Wynn Sivils (Westminster College) and Jeffrey Walker (Oklahoma State University), LEAR welcomes a wide range of submissions on the literary culture of the United States from roughly 1787-1851. Articles dealing with the work and influence of James Fenimore Cooper are especially welcome. Submissions should be of article- or monograph-length and should be formatted in accordance with the guidelines of the latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition).
We prefer electronic submissions, but contributors sending manuscripts via regular mail should provide three double-spaced copies accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope. As all submissions undergo review by outside readers, the author’s name should appear only on the cover page.
An author whose submission is selected for publication will be asked to provide a brief abstract and one copy of the article on disc, using the most recent version of Microsoft Word. Whenever available, authors should use as their primary texts those scholarly editions approved by the Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions. For example, in the case of Cooper, authors should use those editions approved by the “Writings of James Fenimore Cooper†and published by AMS Press and SUNY Press.
Please send electronic submissions to sivilsmw_at_westminster.edu.
