The Toni Morrison Society is hosting panels at the American Literature Association conference to be held in Boston, MA, May 24-27, 2007. Papers are being solicited for the panels listed below.
 
 
Toni Morrison: The Foreigner's Home
 
As the title of the exhibit Toni Morrison curated at the Louvre in the fall of 2006, "the foreigner's home" captures much of the essence of transnationalism. Characterizing the movement and relationship between host and home, transnationalism figures subtly but importantly in Morrison's work. We are seeking papers that discuss, in Morrison's fiction, the phenomenon of being simultaneously a foreigner and at home. Proposals of no more than 500 words should be submitted by January 28, 2007 to Alma Jean Billingslea at jbilling_at_spelman.edu
 
 
Morrison's Non-Fiction
 
Much has been written about Morrison's novels, but not nearly as much attention has been given to her other critical and creative work. We are seeking papers that discuss any work Morrison has produced beyond her eight novels. Proposals of no more than 500 words should be submitted by January 28, 2007 to Alma Jean Billingslea at jbilling_at_spelman.edu
