CFP: University of Minnesota School of Music Graduate Student Symposium
23 – 25 March 2007
University of Minnesota School of Music
Minneapolis, Minnesota
The University of Minnesota Musicology/Ethnomusicology Graduate Student
Organization (UJive) announces a Call for Papers for an interdisciplinary
symposium of music scholarship. We particularly encourage proposals
addressing the diverse manifestations of music-making in the American
Midwest, but invite papers on all aspects of music, from all historical
periods and geographic areas. We emphasize interdisciplinarity and welcome
the work from scholars in all academic disciplines, utilizing diverse
methodologies.
We anticipate that most presentations will follow a standard 20 minute
paper-reading format with a 10 minute question-and-answer period, although
we encourage alternative and innovative approaches.
Please submit two copies (one blind, one with contact information) of a
250-word abstract describing your project to ujivesubmissions_at_gmail.com by
20 December. Include in your email any special equipment you will require
for your presentation. Your abstract should be suitable for publication in
the symposium program.
Abstracts will be evaluated by a panel including independent jurors. We
will contact you immediately to confirm that we have received your
submission and will notify submitters of the panel's decision by 15
January.
Please address all questions to ujivequestions_at_gmail.com.
