CFP: Intimacy: Representations in Literature and the Visual Arts (2/16/07; 6/28/07-6/30/07)
Abstracts are solicited for An International Word & Image Conference:
Intimacy: Representations in literature and the visual arts
to be held at the University of Paris 7, June 2007.
The representations of intimacy, the paradoxical display or publicization of private concerns, behaviors and sentiments, has always been a central issue in literature and the visual arts. In both fields, specific genres or strategies have often been devised that could mediate such a representation. This international conference, devised by the journal INTERFACES, invites paper proposals (in French or in English) examining the way that issue has been tackled in all literary and visual media. Although the analysis of particular examples will be welcome, the organizers will give preference to those proposals that try and combine visual and verbal considerations.
This event is sponsored by the international French/ English journal INTERFACES, the University of Paris 7, and the College of the Holy Cross. Papers submitted for the conference will be considered for publication in INTERFACES.
Abstracts deadline is February 16, 2007. Send abstracts to Frederic Ogee: ogee_at_paris7.jussieu.fr. Or to Maurice A. Geracht: mgeracht_at_holycross.edu.
