Fourteenth Annual Graduate Humanities Conference

Abstract deadline: 2/16/07

What is a gay/lesbian novel? How is this defined? Is it more useful to use the term "queer," or does this erase the constructed identity that gay/lesbian implies? This call for papers is for academic work that explores these questions or others that center on what labels a book gay and/or lesbian and why.

Abstracts no longer than 250 words should be e-mailed to:

Keynote:
We are pleased to announce that this year’s keynote speakers are Bonnie Zimmerman and Karen Tongson. Bonnie Zimmerman comes to us from San Diego State University where she is associate vice President for Faculty Affairs. She is well-known for her published work in Feminist and Lesbian studies, along with extensive articles and lectures on topics such as and author George Elliot. Karen Tongson is Assistant Professor of English and Gender Studies at the University of Southern California. She has published essays on topics ranging from Thomas Moore's Irish Melodies, to dyke film-maker and provocateur Lynne Chan's JJ Chinois projects. Her current work focuss on emergent queer of color suburban imaginaries.
