Poster Presentations

We invite proposals for poster presentations in any
area. Proposals should explicate the researched topic.
Author/s are encouraged, but not required to explain
how their research will manifest itself in the poster
presentation.

Some examples of how a poster presentation may be
utilized for our disciplines are:

• Examining the staging of a particular play.
• Tracing the origins of a symbol or metaphor within a
text.
• Presenting research on illuminated manuscripts.
• Providing data on methods and their effectiveness.
• Charting linguistic trends within a particular
community.

Poster presentations are frequently utilized in the
sciences to effectively convey research and data.
Presenters are asked to visually represent their
findings and conclusion on a poster in a designated
space. Standing or sitting by the poster, researchers
are able to interact with interested scientists about
their work. While this form of presentation is new in
the study of literature, composition/rhetoric and
linguistics, the Program Committee believes this
method will create new opportunities for discussions
about literature and language, and may spark
innovative ways of thinking about the field.

Presenters will be required to be present for a
designated two-hour period during the poster session.
Computer display equipment and other technology, if
used, must be provided by the participant.

Presenters must bring their own push-pins or Velcro to
affix the poster material to the display board. All
materials must be removable. Writing, painting or
using paste on the display board is not allowed.

All posters must be set up in the time allotted before
the session and remain up until the end of the
session.

Proposals should be 250 words.

Please email proposals to Dr. Katherine Weiss, East
Tennessee State University, weisk01_at_etsu.edu.
