CFP: Literature and Science before 1800; Midwest MLA Annual Meeting (04/15/07; 11/8/07-11/11/07)
This standing panel of the Midwest Modern Language Association seeks papers on English literature and its intersections with science and medicine prior to 1800 for the annual meeting to be held in Cleveland, Ohio (November 8, 2007 -November 11, 2007). In doing so it seeks to answer some of the following questions: In what ways do English authors configure their relation to medical and scientific texts of their time periods? How do popular medical and scientific issues enter English texts (either implicitly or explicitly) and how do authorial responses to these concerns change over different time periods and across different literary genres? Please send paper abstracts of no more than 200 words along with a brief biographical sketch/CV to Katherine Kickel, Miami University, kickelke_at_muohio.edu, by April 15, 2007.
