Call for Panel Submissions:
Literature and Trauma: Testimony and Witness in Holocaust and Ethnic American Literature Panel,
RMMLA Conference,
Calgary, Alberta, Canada,
October 4-6, 2007
 
Please Email abstracts or full-length papers, along with a c.v. by March 1, 2007 to: Joy Viveros, University of the Pacific, jviveros_at_pacific.edu.
 
Papers invited on intersections between Holocaust literature-fiction and non-fiction and ethnic American literatures.
 
Of particular interest are papers that engage these questions:
* What do survivors of the Holocaust who write to produce historical testimony-and to bear witness to their own trauma-have in common with ethnic American writers whose writings represent genocidal acts or other atrocities against their own?
* What rhetorical strategies does the ethnic American autobiographer, memoirist, diarist, or essayist adopt in representing atrocities on American soil, especially those co-signed by domestic institutions-and how do these differ from the representational strategies of Holocaust writers?
 
Papers addressing other intersections between the project of testimony and witness in Holocaust and Ethnic American literary traditions are also invited.
 
Presenters will be notified by March 15, 2007.
 
Presenters are required to become RMMLA members or renew membership by April 1, 2007.
 
A passport will be required to travel to Canada for the convention.
