Susquehanna University invites undergraduate scholars and writers to
participate in “Imagination-Self-Other,” its fourth annual Undergraduate
Literature and Creative Writing Conference.

“Imagination-Self-Other” welcomes creative and/or critical engagement with
issues that include but are not limited to the following:

* Imagining difference
* Imagination and liberation
* Imagining race, class, gender, sexuality
* Borderlands of self and other
* The failure of imagination
* Imagination and intersectionality
* Literary representations of self/other
* Genres of the self: Lyric, memoir, biography
* Identity, nation, globalization
* Imagination and subjectivity

We encourage broad interpretations of the conference theme.
Scholarship can take any number of forms: studies of individual authors or
groups of authors; individual works or groups of works; literary history;
literary form; the relationship between culture, politics, and literature;
or the production, circulation and reception of literature. All types of
literature and all methods of study, including interdisciplinary
approaches, are welcome. Creative writing can also take any number of
forms, including poetry, prose fiction and non-fiction, and literary
To be considered for the conference, please submit by Dec. 3, 2007 either a
300-word abstract of a scholarly paper or a work of creative writing
appropriate for a 15-minute presentation. Email your submission as an MS
Word attachment to and include your complete contact
information and your college or university affiliation. In the subject line
of your email please indicate: Conference: [Title of Paper].
