PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE UPDATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2007
We are considering proposals for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and/or
individual papers. Sessions are scheduled in 1 hour slots, usually with 4 papers/speakers per
session.
We welcome any topics pertaining to the studies of gender, sexuality, and popular cultureâ€"
regarding aspects of consumptionâ€"and are especially interested in the following subjects:
• literature
• media
• fashion/beauty
• marketing/advertising
• men’s roles (under attack? redefinition? etc.)
• internet (including porn, hookup sites)
• commerce
• addiction
• food and eating
• destruction
• illness
• decay
• theory
If you or any of your colleagues are interested in submitting a proposal or have questions, please
contact the area chair. Submit a one-page (150-250 words) abstract (via e-mail, preferably) by
November 1, 2007, to the area chair for Consuming Masculinities:
