CFP: [General] Call for Manuscripts - Creative, Academic, and Translations
The University of New Orleans and the UNO Press invites submissions of both
creative and scholarly work in the following areas:
Louisiana: Culture and Diversity
This broad category will include work by and about Louisiana artists,
musicians, and authors. It is open to creative work (fiction, poetry,
nonfiction, etc.) by authors living in or connected with Louisiana, and
also to scholarly work on Louisiana literature, music, and art, as well as
cultural and historical studies on any aspect of Louisiana.
Katrina Scholarship
We invite submission of scholarly and theoretical work concerning Hurricane
Katrina and related events and contingencies. In this category, we will be
accepting papersâ€" for inclusion in an anthologyâ€" as well as book length
manuscripts for consideration.
Literature in Translation
In keeping with the growing cultural and linguistic diversity of New
Orleans, the state, and the nation, and in support of the University's goal
of internationalization, we are soliciting translations of important
literary or scholarly works from languages other than English.
Open Category
Authors whose literary or scholarly projects do not fall into any of the
categories above are invited to submit a prospectus, according to the
guidelines below.
To submit a query, please email the following materials to unopress_at_uno.edu:
A short prospectus including a description or summary of the work, its
intended audience, the length or anticipated length of the manuscript, the
number or anticipated number of illustrations and color requirements, and
the anticipated date of completion if the work is still in progress.
Translation projects should also include information about the original
work and author.
Author or translator's curriculum vitae.
If available, a table of contents and/or a three to five page excerpt of
the work.
Those submitting short papers may simply attach the entire paper. Please
include an abstract.
