Writing Race
The College English Association - Caribbean Chapter will hold their 2008
Spring Conference in the University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo (Puerto Rico)
on the 29th of February and the 1st of March.
The College English Association-Caribbean Chapter will be holding its
next conference in the University of Puerto Rico-Ponce in February
2008. The 2008 conference will address the general topic of race and
writing. We invite proposals for 20-minute papers on any aspect of the
topic, from a literary historical, critical, theoretical,
interdisciplinary or other perspective. The proposals are not limited to
English language literature.
The specific topics to be addressed by the conference will include but
not be limited to: Atlantic studies; race, gender, and sexuality;
identity and race in Caribbean and Caribbean diasporic literature;
African American and Afro-Caribbean connections; postcolonialism and
Caribbean and Caribbean Diasporic writing; minority literature; Puerto
Rico and the Caribbean; diaspora and writing; Africana philosophy and the
Caribbean; Caribbean literature and cultural studies; critical race
theory; critical legal studies and race; cultural studies and race;
slavery studies; immigration and race; racialization and the body;
performance studies and race; multilingualism and race.
Send 200-word proposal for 20-minute paper to
cea.caribbeanchapter_at_gmail.com by December 15th, 2007. Proposal should be
sent as part of a text message, not as an attachment.
