CONFERENCE AND CALL FOR PAPERS:
SASRIM, the South African Society for Research in Music announces its
second annual conference to be hosted by Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University (formerly the University of Port Elizabeth), Port Elizabeth,
from 21 â€" 23 August 2008. The conference theme is "African Voices".
Researchers into music are hereby invited to submit proposals for
presentations which may be in the form of 20-minute papers, joint 20-
minute presentations, panel discussions, 90-minute demonstration papers or
poster displays. Proposals should be approximately 300 words, and be
accompanied by a curriculum vitae of the presenter/s. Topics that do not
directly address the conference focus may also be considered for inclusion.
Call for papers on medieval and early modern notions of surplus and excess for a group of
interdisciplinary sessions on *Premodern Surplus* at the AESA conference on Surplus/Excess (see
call below). Proposed paper topics due to Professor Andrea Denny-Brown by November 1, 2007.
