Call For Papers: “Self and Audience in Women’s Poetry Since 1945†(ALA;

The American Literature Association Conference
May 22-25, 2008

Paper proposals are invited on the relationship between self and audience
in any American woman poet/s since 1945. Topics might include, but are not
limited to:
Essay collection: Engagements with superstitions in early modern drama
We are still accepting proposals for a collection of critical articles on
the representation of supernatural imaginings, staged superstitions, and
enacted witchcraft and apparitions in the theaters of early modern Europe.
We are interested in both itinerant performers as well as stage productions
written for established commercial theaters.
The focus of the collection of essays lies with dramatic literature. At
this point we are particularly interested in essays that consider literary
interactions between fictional and allegedly non-fictional literatures:
pamphlets, treatises, and sermons.
In Action:
Social Engagement, Empowerment and Change
The eleventh issue of eSharp will consider themes of social engagement,
empowerment, and change. We welcome articles which examine the social
implications and practical applications of various theories, as well as how
these may empower marginalised social groups or promote social change. In
keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the journal, the ideas of
engagement and empowerment within society can be interpreted broadly. We
encourage submissions from postgraduates in any area of the arts,
humanities, social sciences or education.
