Call for Contributors:
A leading publisher has decided to develop a series of volumes entitled
The Dictionary of American Literary Characters and the Dictionary of
British Literary Characters. This will be a 4-volume set. As the editor,
I am seeking scholars to write about literary characters in novels,
plays, short stories that will be included in these volumes. The
publisher is Facts on File, Inc.

I request entries on the following:

I. American short stories and dramas published during the past 7 years.
    American novels published during or after 2001.

II. British short stories and dramas published during the past 12 years.
    British novels published during or after 2001.

proposals that address the connections and/or disjunctions among
oppositional politics, avant-garde poetics, and Canada. 500-word abstract
and 1-page CV by March 14, 2008 to Susan Rudy (SRudy_at_ucalgary.ca).
Presenters must be members in good standing of the MLA by 7 April 2008 to
be listed in the Program issue of PMLA.

This is an open session on Seventeenth Century British Literature at the
2008 RMMLA conference, to be held in Reno, Nevada. The conference will
run from 9 October to 11 October 2008. Papers may concern any aspect of
Seventeenth Century Literature, but papers that examine the use of
metadrama are especially encouraged.

Call for Papers: Reading Asian Television

The growing cultural significance of Asian television is evident when
looking at the media and popular attention garnered by such phenomenon as
the Korean Wave. This is a call for papers for a collection entitled
Reading Asian Television: Crossing Borders and Breaking Boundaries,
published by I.B. Tauris, and to be edited by Jeongmee Kim. This book is
part of the Reading Television series (series editors: Kim Akass and
Janet McCabe) and aims to examine both the text and context of current
Asian television.
