CFP: [Rhetoric-Composition] SCMLA 2008 Literature and Psychology Panel
Abstracts and/or papers are sought for the Literature and Psychology
panel of the SCMLA conference being held in San Antonio, TX November 6-8,
2008. In keeping with the conference theme of “borders,†the session is
called “Literature and Psychology: Humanity on the Border.†This session
explores the psychological aspects of literary works or authors as they
relate to existence on various borders or margins, with particular
interest in psycho-cultural borderlines. Potential topics include:
The Subaltern in America
Borderline Personality Disorder in Literature
Immigration in literature
Literary translations on the border
Blurring the boundary between “Southern†and “American†literature
Although any papers on literature and psychology in general are welcome,
priority will be given to those that reflect the conference theme.
Please send brief abstracts/proposals by March 14th, 2008 to
rfields_at_siu.edu or by postal service to Ronald Fields, SIUC Department of
English MC 4503, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL 62901.
Panel participants will be notified by the end of March, and conference
attendees must become members of the South Central Modern Language
Association by May 12th, 2008.
