CFP: [Collections] call for papers
Sports, Exercise, and Recreation
For its Fall 2008 issue, Proteus: A Journal of Ideas seeks essays,
scholarly articles, photographs, poetry, and visual artwork that examine
sports, exercise, and/or recreation in a variety of contexts and
settings. Submissions are encouraged from a wide range of disciplines and
perspectives including (but not limited to) the sciences, sociology,
literature, business, gender studies, psychology, political science,
philosophy, cultural studies, and history. Submissions may address a
variety of topics from diverse perspectives. Articles and essays may, for
example, examine the psychology and physiology of sports performance, or
they may explore economic and social issues relating to athletics,
exercise, or recreation. Cultural, historical, and literary studies are
also strongly encouraged as are personal essays. Our journal seeks both
broad theoretical inquires into the nature of sports and recreation as
well as case studies dealing with more specialized topics. The submission
of photographs, poetry, and other kinds of artwork is also highly
encouraged.
Manuscript Deadline: October 15, 2007
Documents should follow Chicago Manual of Style
with a preferred length of 2000 â€" 5000 words.
