CFP: New book on Popular Culture and 9/11 (Greenwood Publishing, forthcoming)

Essays sought (750-1000 words each) for a forthcoming volume on popular
culture since September 11th. Essays must be written from a critical or
cultural studies approach. Planned book chapters will cover a wide range
of topics including Everyday Life; Advertising; Literature; Music; Visual
Arts; Television; Film; News; American Icons. Essays should discuss
specific elements of popular culture within these chapter categories and
will function as case studies that illustrate the connection between
September 11th and popular culture. For example, an essay in the
Architecture chapter could be a semiotic example of Ground Zero memorials.
An essay in the Movies chapter could be critical look at the role 9/11 has
played in films (or one specific film) since 2001. Essays focused on
either how a text represents 9/11 or changes in a field of popular culture
since 9/11 are especially of interest. Particular topics needing
contributors include: magazines; music; icons; architecture; advertising
and sports (about or since 9/11).
