You are invited to participate in the inaugural Spring 2008 Creative
Writing Festival: A Celebration of Teaching and Writing on May 2 and 3 at
the Ammerman Campus of Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY.

This event will be the first of its kind at SCCC, bringing together
teachers and students of creative writing from high schools, SCCC, and
colleges and universities across the country. The festival will include
readings, workshops, and discussion from guest authors and faculty. We
will also address the topic of teaching and learning creative writing
through a series of panel sessions for teachers and students.

Our festival schedule will include:

Friday night, May 2, 2008
Award Winners’ Reading and a casual dinner.

Saturday, May 3, 2008
Afternoon writing workshops and panels for both students and teachers,
evening dinner, awards, and readings by featured authors including poet
Judith Baumel and fiction writers Brock Clarke and Victor LaValle.

Please join us for this celebration of creative writing. To help with
festival expenses, there will be a small conference registration fee for
graduate students, teaching faculty and administrators of $25.

Undergraduate students may register for free. Registration fees are tax
deductible. Pre-registration will close on 4/18/08.
