The department of Africana Studies at Stony Brook University is accepting
abstracts for the upcoming conference The Future of Black Studies in a
Global World. This event will be held in the Department of Africana studies
on October 16, 2008. The purpose of the conference is to meet with
colleagues from area and national Black Studies departments and programs
across the country to discuss many of the common experiences and challenges
that our departments encounter. We are seeking papers that will consider
questions relating to the relevance of black studies in the twenty first
century, the new trends and new directions for black studies, the
university community and Black studies, and the role of technology in Black
studies departments. Abstracts are to be no longer than 500 words. The
deadline for abstracts is extended to June 15, 2008. Please send abstracts
