CFP: [Collections] The Graduate Film Studies Journal

The Graduate Film Studies Journal is currently looking for submissions for
its third issue. We are looking for 7-10 page essays, completely written
and ready for publication. All papers should be written in proper MLA,
APA, or CMS formatting. All papers should be about film (all aspects of
film and film theory are acceptable). The deadline is September 1st, 2008
(the issue should be ready for full review by October 1st, 2008). If you

Pascal’s Pensées and Literature. Is Pascal’s Pensées a literary text? The
goal of this panel is to think about the essence of literature and the
interpretations and appropriations of Pensées. Comparative works between
Pascal and other writers are also welcome (in French, English, or Spanish).

I am looking for two chapters to complete this anthology, to be published by Continuum in
2009: one on Italian cinema, and the second on male rape, looking more specifically at Bruno
Dumont's 29 Palms.

In her 2001 book Watching Rape, Sarah Projansky, argues that rape is
a key force throughout the history of film, and that "one cannot
fully understand cinema itself without addressing rape and its
representation" (26).

Bibliography and Textual Studies: "People of the Books: Christianity and
Islam in Book Studies." Participants will consider elements of two
religions and cultures especially concerned not only with the contents
but the paratextual elements of their respective books. This panel is
particularly interested in the intersection of Christianity and Islam in
textual studies, although abstracts on any aspect of either religion as
it relates to bibliography will be considered. Please send 250-word
