Nineteenth Century Native American Literature
40th Anniversary Convention, Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA)
Feb 26-Mar. 1, 2009
Hyatt Regency - Boston, Massauchusetts
This panel calls for papers that explore the works of nineteenth-century
Native writers such as William Apess, John Rollin Ridge, Jane Johnston
Schoolcraft, Sarah Winnemucca, George Copway and others. We will consider
the many ways in which these authors actively sought to reinscribe Native
presence into the literary and historical archive of the nineteenth
century.
Please send abstracts of 250-500 words to Drew Lopenzina, Sam Houston
State University ajl011_at_shsu.edu.
Deadline is Sept. 15, 2008
CALL FOR PAPERS: Edited Collection on Technology-Focused Collaborative
Research in English Studies
WORKING TITLE: “Investigating Digital Tools, Texts, and Use Practices:
Collaborative Approaches to Research in English Studiesâ€
The Digital Embodiment panel of the Brandeis University Graduate
Conference invites the submission of papers/presentations that examine
the body in light of digital media and culture. Where this year’s
conference, "Fleshing Out the Text," more broadly seeks to inspect sites
where the body has been ill-defined or elided, the Digital Embodiment
panel intends to complicate the very status of the body by considering
its presence, significance, and coding in digital and virtual worlds.
Fleshing Out the Text
November 7, 2008
Plenary speakers
Aliyyah Abdur-Rahman, Brandeis University
Digital Embodiment speaker, TBD
