CFP: [20th] Images of Brazil: contemporary representations (06/01/2009; journal issue)

full name / name of organization:
Denise Almeida Silva

This CFP centers on contemporary images of Brazil and the Brazilians.
Moving away from the study of representations connected to romantic
nationalism and the exploitation of local color, this CFP aims at
triggering reflections on how Brazil and the Brazilians have been
depicted in contemporary literary, pictorial, cinematographic and
historic productions, especially in the ones produced from the second
half of the twentieth century on. The CFP invites studies on images of
Brazil and the Brazilians in Brazilian art and those produced from a
foreign perspective.
Lingua&Literatura also invites book reviews: literature and
literary criticism, books published in the last two years (2008-2009, not
necessarily related to the theme of this CFP).
