Looking to put together a Cs panel on technology & self-sponsored (outside of the classroom) collaborative writing groups. I'm particularly interested in the panel concentrating on matters of textual ownership.

My research examines collaboration on WoWWiki.com, so if the focus is fan studies . . . someone looking at fan fiction, for example, would be a natural fit. I can also see the (textual) writing practices of fans producing machinima, fan films, game mods working well, too.

That being said, although an exclusive focus on fan studies might make for a tight panel, I'm also interested in working with those looking at other types of groups/communities which collaborate on or through writing by using new media. What connections between our research and the writing practices of these communities might we make?

As for the format, I've also been kicking around the idea of pecha kucha — meaning that each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each — roughly 7 minute presentations. So with a couple minute cushion between presenters, I figure we could have as many as 6 or 7 panelists. This format, of course, would depend on how many people might be interested in participating. A more traditional set up is fine, though, including "papers."

Finally, another format option might be including participants from the panelist's research, for instance a member of WoWWiki or a fan fiction community.
