Preference will be given for presentations that directly address visual storytelling, sequential art theory, and/or the application of sequential art theory or visual storytelling theory by practitioners.

SCADCon's stated mission is to maximize awareness and appreciation of popular art forms such as film, comics, gaming and animation through education, presentations, exhibit space, portfolio reviews, forums, screenings and other events that celebrate contributions to visual storytelling within the entertainment industry. The Academic Track of SCADCon represents the Institute for Comics Studies' mission to promote the study, understanding, recognition, and cultural legitimacy of comics and to support the discussion and dissemination of this study and understanding via public venues.
