UNC Charlotte's English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) is proud to announce its 11th annual conference and call for papers. Our conference is the largest and longest running student-led conference in the southeast. This year, come and see how the rules of the game are changing.

The UNC Charlotte English Graduate Student Association invites faculty, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates to submit an original essay or presentation for the annual spring semester conference.

This year's symposium, "Changing the Language Game," engages the diverse fields of English studies, including literature, new media, linguistics, literacy studies, creative writing, children's literature, and composition and pedagogy studies. This year's conference explores the different ways today's language game is played. The conference combines panel and round table discussions designed to push the boundaries of language scholarship and explore novelty in literature, linguistics, literacy, and learning. This conference is open to faculty, students, and anyone interested in the play of language and ideas.

The EGSA encourages submissions of scholarly essays and creative writing that explore frontiers and seek out new ideas. Above all, this will be an event that brings together a community of thinkers and writers in a dialogue about the ever-changing game of language.

To be considered for placement as a round table presenter, please submit a 350-word abstract of your paper or presentation, and indicate on your registration form which round table you would like to participate in: 1) Pushing the Boundaries in Multi-Cultural Writing; 2) The Future of Language in the Digital Age; or 3) Word Play and its Politics. If you would like to be considered for placement as a panel presenter, please submit a 350-word abstract. Panel topics will be determined by submissions.

The deadline for all submissions is December 15th, 2010 at 5pm and should be sent to Please include the words "Conference Submission" in the subject line of your email. All presenters must submit before the deadline and be formally accepted by the EGSA.

We look forward to a provocative exchange of ideas; thank you in advance for sharing your time, energy, and scholarship.
