Edited Collection—Teaching with Sound and Music

This collection seeks contributions from scholars and teachers of writing on the subject of teaching with sound: iTunes, Audacity, podcasts, etc. Designed to be a collection for instructors interested in teaching writing with sound, this collection should offer both theoretical and pedagogical discussions on related issues. To that end, articles focusing on teaching resources and theoretical/pedagogical frameworks are especially preferred. The collection seeks discussions of teaching strategies, successful assignments, theoretical and pedagogical concerns, and/or discussions regarding the affordances of teaching writing with sound. A focus on why and how we ought to teach with sound in our writing classrooms is also appreciated, as are articles that re-configure traditional writing assignments to fit with "sound pedagogy." In addition, contributions about (re)mixing, research methods related to sound (and new media), and the critical/ rhetorical affordances of sound are also encouraged.

If interested, please contact Sarah A. Etlinger (the editor of this collection) at the following email address: etlinger@uwm.edu. Please include an abstract (and complete article if possible), along with your contact information.

Note: this collection is still seeking a publisher. Updates on the status of this collection will be posted to all accepted submissions as well as to this website.
