A Reappraisal of the Literary Career and Work of Georgette Heyer 10/30/12

The romance novels and detectives stories of Georgette Heyer have recently been republished, indicating a renewed interest in the writer and her work. This cfp seeks original essays examing Heyer's production--romantic and detecive--for an anthology to be published by McFarland and Co. ATHE Theatre History Focus Group Debut Panel CFP

American Association for Theatre in Higher Education Theatre History Focus Group

The Theatre History Focus Group (THFG) of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) invites submissions for its debut panel from scholars who have neither published articles nor previously presented at ATHE. The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2012.

Papers must address the history of theatre practice, but the parameters are broad. Active engagement with historiographical methodologies, theory, and/or dramatic literature is encouraged. Papers engaging explicitly with the conference theme "Performance As/Is Civil Engagement" and incorporating transnational or non-Western perspectives are especially desired. THFG remains committed to giving voice to a diversity of methodological approaches and geographical emphases.

Charles Olson taught at Black Mountain College from 1948 until 1956, during which time he wrote some of his most important essays and poems and formed some of his most influential engagements with other writers and artists. For a panel at the May 2012 American Literature Association in Boston, we invite papers on the work that Olson did at Black Mountain (published or unpublished), or on the influence that he and Black Mountain exerted on other writers.
