Nineteenth-Century Aetiologies, Exoticism, and Multimodal Aesthetics

University of Liverpool, 2-4 April 2013
In April 2013 we will be hosting a magnificent and diverse panel of speakers in humanities and sciences, putting nineteenth-century "Otherness" and "Multimodal Aesthetics" under our cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary lens. We will discuss various modes, cognitive and aesthetic history of "otherness" and its contemporary reception. There will be a few workshops on the subject plus a specific workshop to give you guidelines on academic/art publication, with a chance to discuss your work with editors of the International Journal of Literature and Psychology and our book series, 'Texts and Embodiments in Perspective'. We encourage postgraduate scholars in different fields to attend & develop their research ideas through multidisciplinary discussions. There will be plenty of opportunities to find brilliant mentors from among our panel contributors and speakers, who will offer advice and guidance on your current work, supporting you to push the boundaries of your research. MA/MPhil/PhD scholars are welcome to attend as presenting or non-presenting delegates. We seek to appoint three postgraduate delegates as conference reporters, who have an interest in media/publicity side of the conference.

Postgraduate registration rates:
• Half-Day + 1 Workshop Attendance: £35.00
• Full-Day Attendance: £70.00
• Full Conference Attendance: £170.00

Registration is open from 1 December 2012. Please send a CV & 200/300-word abstracts if you plan to present. And those who wish to attend without presenting are welcome to send CVs in.
