[UPDATE] Graphic Novel Panel for PAMLA (Nov. 1-3, 2013); Deadline: April 15, 2013
(This is an update because the wrong deadline was in the header of the previous posting.)
We are currently seeking proposals for papers to be presented as part of a standing session on the Graphic Novel at the 2013 Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. The conference will take place November 1-3, 2013.
With its origins in newspapers, popular comic books and other venues, the graphic novel has come into its own as a genre of literary expression meriting scholarly attention. We seek presentations that analyze the various texts and related images that make up this vibrant tradition. Presentations may address graphic texts from a variety of cultures and time periods, texts that adhere faithfully to the conventions of graphic narrative or those on the fringe that repeatedly bend or break them.
To submit a proposal, go to "http://www.pamla.org/2013/" and click on "Submit a Proposal Now". Submissions are due by April 15, 2013. If a paper is accepted, one must join the PAMLA by June 1, 2013, in order to present at the conference. Additional proposal guidelines are available at the PAMLA website.
